Key Fobs had made our lives a lot easier. No one really knew just how annoying keys were until we had a way out of having to deal with them. Even though they have no doubt made things easier, it doesn’t mean that they don’t come with their own set of problems. Key fobs can cause problems too, and a lot of these problems, are very confusing to deal with in the moment, but that doesn’t mean that Key Fob issues can’t be dealt with, in fact, there’s usually a pretty easy fix for most of the problems too, you just need to know what the problem is, and what you can do about it, and in this post, we’re going to be going over the top 3 problems, just like that!
The key fob isn’t responding
One of the most common issues people have with key fobs is that they just won’t respond. They press the buttons over and over again, but nothing happens! This is a common issue, but usually doesn’t just happen overnight. You’ll notice your key fob getting “weaker”. It won’t work from as far away as it used to, and sometimes, your car may suddenly stop registering it as being inside the car at all, even when it is! This means one simple thing, your key fob’s battery, is running out. When it completely stops responding, it’s completely run out. Usually, key fob batteries last anywhere between a couple of months to a year, and after that, they’ll slowly deplete until they fully turn off. Thankfully, getting a key fob battery isn’t as big of a job as getting a car battery is. Head over to a locksmith in Alabaster, or a recommended locksmith in your local area, and have them replace your key fob battery for you! It’ll be done within minutes, and your key fob will go back to functioning, just as it did before!
There’s a button missing
Sometimes, the problem isn’t as subtle as a battery change, sometimes you have other problems like losing an entire button on the keyfob! Sometimes the key fob will fall to the ground and a button will come loose and go missing. This means that although the rest of the key fob might still be in functioning condition, not all of it will be! This can be even more frustrating if it’s the “lock/unlock” button! If you still have the button, and it’s just come off, try taking the key fob apart and putting the button back where it belongs, sometimes, that is enough to fix the damage, but if it isn’t, have a locksmith take a look at it, they might be able to repair the damage, but if they find that the key fob has extensive physical damage, you might have to get the entire thing replaced to be on the safe side. You can get it replaced at the locksmith’s office.
The key fob is responding, but the car isn’t
There’s a little light on your key fob that indicated that it’s responding. When your key fob battery is out, the light stops flashing, but when it still has a battery, it will continue to flash. This can make things very confusing because you’ll see that the key fob is working, but the car isn’t responding to it. This might mean that the key fob isn’t necessarily the problem, it might just be a programming issue! If your key fob and keys aren’t programmed the right way! This is an easy fix for a locksmith, they can easily reprogram your car to the key fob and make sure that everything s functioning the way it should! You shouldn’t have to deal with any problems with your car not responding then on out!
